The Bar Breaking Apparatus is to demonstrate thermal expansion, contraction of metals, and the forces involved in these processes.
The sturdy steel base houses a gas burner tube, on a robust steel bar rests.
By heating the steel bar with the gas burner, it expands, exerting pressure against a cast iron rod until it breaks with a resounding sound.
The large bar features a strong adjustable device at its threaded end, allowing users to position the cast iron rod either on the inside face of the body for breaking during expansion or on the outside face for breaking as the iron bar cools and retracts.
To ensure safety and proper usage, the burner tube is clearly marked for LPG only.
